A few weeks ago, I went with my father and his "crew", who are all highly skilled sailors, to trade and see how it feels. Many people believed that we sailed as far as Britain and around the west coast of Africa! I won't tell you if we did I will let you decide.Do you think we did?
Anyway, we had one very particular and very important natural resource-lumber. Many people used this lumber to make beautiful and artistic buildings. Us Phoenicians are adept workers in metal and we created beautiful objects of gold and silver which we learned a bit from the Egyptians. Don't you think glass vases are pretty? We'll, we were the ones who invented the wonderful art of glassblowing. On our coast, we also gathered shellfish called murex which we used to make purple dye. Many people prized the cloth dyed with this purple and since it was also a favorite of the rich and royalty, the color became known as royal purple.
Umm... I've got to go. My father's calling me. I hope you learned that trading was very important to Phoenicians and we were very talented traders. Do you have anything that could be traded?
